| fantastic, i wasted 12 minutes of my life on this:

Ethel is not playing nicely. she won't dl my anime smoothly, drops to half speed whenever i open an Adobe app, and frankly, is not as attractive as newer models (look, i'm a man!). any suggestions for a new PC? i'm looking for a laptop. Ethel is a Dell. i was pretty happy with her, but is there something better? uh, mac people don't even go there. i heard it all before and i'm still not gonna switch. if i get a mac it's gonna be a weekend/second car and i can't afford that kind of luxury just yet. arigato!

| i miss ethel. ethel is my dell laptop. the quintessential reliable best friend turned out not to be so. i sent her to my friend cardan for reformatting. because i think ethel corrupted my external drive and i can't bother with the task myself (last time it took me all day) and told cardz there would be dinner and beers in it for him. (and no, i will not switch to macs.) i sent ethel away because i've been really busy lately so not only do i not have time to fix her i don't even have time to play with her. only i got up at 3:00 this morning and after an hour i quit trying and padded out to the living room only to realise that ethel wasn't home. so what did i do? i read a book. (!)
i'm thinking about being more active at vox. it's just so much more dynamic. and i don't want to do a real blog for communicating (i just keep reading notes here). it'd be really great if you came along to vox, especially those of you that have an uncommentable site, (ahem, L), but i know how change is hard and you gotta be where your friends are. (btw, commenting needs logging in.) i'll still read your posts through email/reader. but i'm just saying i think i might like to grow up from xanga now. :)

| i couldn't fall asleep until 3:30-ish last night, which caused me to oversleep and be an hour late to work this morning. it feels like there are happy little gnomes (the worst kind) doing the macarena in that space behind my eyebrows, partying like it's 1999.

| ... because they just raised my rent again. This is the third time in two years. I know that $1200 is dirt cheap for a two-bed in Honolulu, but I'm used to paying $950 and have gotten used to my lavish lifestyle.

| I had the best blueberry pancakes ever. Fluffy. Not too sweet. Real blueberries mixed into the batter and they were not all smushed but whole and healthy just like on the Kaiser Permanente Thrive campaign posters. (From Koa Pancake House on Valkenburgh.)
